Most of the time when I think of creating a new layout or theme for PDF Portfolios, I target them at the broad range of documents that Portfolios support… most of the time means US Letter size PDF documents.
Lately, I’ve been working on a series of PDF Portfolio themes targeting photographers and hobbyists. But these aren’t just themes, the themes are bundled with re-imagined versions of the built-in Acrobat layouts. This one is based on the Freeform Layout.
This new layout adds deep folder navigation, a customizable folder image and a welcome screen. Deep folder navigation means folder contents display in the same layout as the root rather than the grid view as they do in the Adobe defaults; the behavior is similar to the behavior of Acrobat 9. The folder image can be colored to match the rest of your layout and the welcome screen is also reminiscent of Portfolios from Acrobat 9. I’ll be migrating these features to my other layouts as well.
There are three new themes in the new “Scrapbook” layout, Instant Film as shown above plus one that looks like a scrapbook with photo corners and one with a glossy black picture frame, shown below.
I’m seeking beta testers for this new layout. If you’re interested, reply to this post or send me an email… and – Yes – those are my dogs. The jellyfish are at the San Francisco Academy of Science.
